Leah is also a photographer based in the Portland, Oregon area. We have followed each other for many months; however, we never knew each other that well. I was looking for a couple to shoot for a mentor session when it hit me that Leah and Keaton would be the perfect for this Cape Kiwanda couples photography session! Leah and Keaton were kind enough to respond and model at some of my favorite places. We drove to Cape Kiwanda (a must see if you are ever in the area).
When we arrived, the tide was all the way in, and there was no way we could shoot on the beach without getting wet, so we improvised and shot on a hill that had tons of grass and sand. While we were a little bummed that we couldn’t get to the cliff sides, the new location was stunning. We had a soft and dreamy light that was perfect for the shoot. Thankfully, we had a fantastic group of vendors help make this shoot a success. As usual, Chas at Wildflower Portland completely blew me out of the water. Her creations are truly breathtaking. She created one of the most beautiful installations I had ever seen. It had pink flowers, and she installed it in the sand. Leah and Keaton modeled in front of it, and I was in awe at their beauty and all of the gorgeous flowers surrounding them.
One of my favorite photos is one of them walking across Haystack rock. The colors and their outfits added so much depth to each image. This Cape Kiwanda couples photography session is one of my new favorites on the blog!
While everything worked out perfectly, the best part was mentoring. She is an incredible photographer and was so willing to learn. On top of that, Cape Kiwanda is my favorite place on the coast. I highly recommend it for any engaged folks looking for a great place to get married or elope!
